At Go Auto Outlet, we make it easy to sell your vehicle. Why go through the risky and time-consuming process of private sales when you could receive an on-the-spot appraisal from an Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC)-certified appraisal expert? Learn how go Auto Outlet values vehicles whether you’re interested in trading-in or just taking a cash payment.
The first step to determining a ballpark value range of your vehicle at Go Auto Outlet is by using the Canadian Black Book. Canadian Black Book (or CBB) is a tool that sets benchmark standards for used vehicle prices across Canada. Published by National Auto Research, CBB provides a third-party-determined value to provide a starting point for both buyer and seller. This objective valuation is the first tool Go Auto Outlet appraisers use to estimate vehicle values.
Canadian Black Book data collectors visit over 60 auctions nationwide per week, and compares the data against dealer-advertised pricing. However, it is important to understand that CBB prices are approximations. If your vehicle is excellently maintained (with records), has additional accessories, and/or is in exceptional condition, your value may actually be higher than the Black Book suggested price. Conversely, if your vehicle is overdue on maintenance, running poorly, or is otherwise damaged, your vehicle’s worth may be less than the suggested value. You can learn more about the Canadian Black Book and research your own vehicle’s value range on this page. This gives us a starting place to work from when determining how much your vehicle is worth.
After determining your vehicle’s Canadian Black Book value range, our AMVIC-certified appraisal experts give your vehicle a complete inspection. Mechanical performance, physical condition, and condition of wear components like brakes and tires are all carefully evaluated. An inspection gives us a sense of your vehicle’s true condition, so we can compare it against the CBB range. Appraisals typically take an hour or less, and our appraisal experts are on staff at each of our West Edmonton, Leduc, and Red Deer location. To have your vehicle appraised, you can schedule an inspection appointment here.
After researching your vehicle’s Black Book value and performing an inspection, we can present an offer. The formula we use to determine value is as follows:
Canadian Black Book Value Range – Reconditioning Costs = Purchase Offer Amount
In special circumstances, other factors may affect the offer amount. For example, your offer may be increased if it is a popular vehicle in high demand. Offers can usually be presented within the day of appraisal, and will always include upfront reasoning for the calculated value.
The last step of the appraisal process is negotiating. There may be room for flexibility, especially if you’re trading-in for an upgrade to a different Go Auto Outlet vehicle. Be sure to ask your appraisal expert about organizing the offer financing, service, accessories, or other perks.
Our goal at Go Auto Outlet is to create an excellent buying and selling experience. Contact a location in Edmonton West or Leduc today to book an appraisal.
